Infant massage has been proven to stimulate growth, calm anxiety, relieve gas, ease symptoms of colic, and deepen emotional bonds. Infants who are massaged sleep better and are calmer and more alert when awake. Massage can also reduce the discomfort of teething and colds and help calm fussy babies. Learning baby massage is also a great opportunity for new parents to enhance the bond with their child.
Our BabyBodywork program, Your Loving Touch and the Art of Infant Massage, is open to infants from 2 weeks old through pre-crawling. It is offered in three separate 45- minutes sessions. You may choose to take the Introductory Session only or continue with Sessions 2 and/or 3. Please call the office to discuss appointment times. Pre-registration is required.
NOM’s signature massage is a full-body treatment that can be a soothing relaxation session, a vigorous muscle treatment, or a little of both.
Custom Combination sessions may incorporate a variety of elements such as Swedish massage techniques, acupressure, trigger point therapy, stretching, range of motion, and energy work to arrive at a treatment that is totally individualized to each client and reflects the uniqueness of each therapist.
The reflexologist applies thumb and finger pressure to reflex points on the feet to improve the functioning of the glands and organs.
Foot Reflexology is a science based on the premise that the more than 7,000 nerve endings on the bottom of each of our feet correspond to and “reflect” all glands, organs, parts and systems of our body. The physical act of applying gentle pressure to these “reflexes” helps to clear and normalize the body’s energy flow, promoting physiological changes throughout the body.
Foot Reflexology sessions are given on a massage table with the receiver barefoot and comfortably dressed.
Maternity massage is a gentle, full-body massage that soothes the areas under particular stress during and immediately following pregnancy.
During pregnancy, a woman’s body experiences many changes that affect her both physiologically and emotionally. Changes in hormonal levels, from conception through delivery, cause increased swelling, fatigue, and sometimes anxiety. As the baby grows, a shift in the mother’s center of gravity results in tension to her musculoskeletal system. Maternity Massage helps to alleviate and minimize many of these common discomforts.
Studies have also shown that by reducing stress hormone levels in the mother, Maternity Massage creates an environment in utero that is healthier for the developing baby.
Special positioning and pillow supports are used to ensure that massage is safe throughout the pregnancy.
Reiki is a gentle bodywork technique for stress reduction, relaxation, and healing.
Reiki is based on the concept of a universal wisdom that comes from higher consciousness (“Rei”) and of a universal life force (“ki” also known as “chi” and “prana”) that animates the cosmos and all living things. It is an ancient form of healing rediscovered in the early 1900’s by Dr. Mikao Usui of Japan.
Our “ki”, or life force, determines our state of health. When our “ki” is low, we are more vulnerable to illness. When our “ki” is balanced, we are less likely to become ill, and our emotions, thoughts, and spirit are at their peak of positive expression.
In a Reiki session, the therapist gently rests her hands on the various energy centers of the receiver’s body. Through the therapist’s mindful meditation, the “ki” of the receiver is given a recharge and their relaxation is greatly enhanced.
A Reiki session is given with the client dressed and lying on a massage table.
